When I was in my early 20's, I left home in search of more power, meaning, and significance in life.  I moved to New York City with a college friend, got a job in an advertising agency, and passionately pursued singer-songwriter dreams as part of a folk duo during off-hours in Greenwich Village.  Over the years, my travels took me from Cape Cod to Hollywood and points in between.  I would see and meet many famous people.

One day, while riding a bicycle through a metropolitan park, a young lady stopped me, greeted me very sweetly, and asked me if I knew Jesus.  Caught off guard, I stumbled over my words…not really knowing what to say.  I knew OF Jesus, and since I had been raised in a well-known Christian denomination, at that time I supposed I knew him as well as anyone, so I answered, “Yes.”  She then said something so simple and yet so powerful that it turned out to be a key to my eventually bright future.  She said, “You’ve got to accept Jesus in your heart!

Regretfully, I went on my way that day and promptly forgot what she had said.  A few short years later, I found myself severely discouraged by some very tough circumstances.  I had fallen in love with Susan, now my wife.  I had gone to a studio in a distant city to what I had hoped would be a lucrative recording session only to find that the person who promised the session had simply changed his mind.  Suddenly, I was broke and far away from Susan.  I was devastated. 

As I sat on a curbstone in a residential area, a car approached where I sat, slowed down and stopped.  The young woman who was driving rolled her window down…
